(5 out of 5 stars) by Heather Burckhardt

Ursula Vernon has been one of my favorite artists for a long time, not only because of her great artistic talent but because of her talent for writing brief, humorous half-stories to accompany her work.
While this book is an interesting read for the humorous, often bizarre images alone, it is Ms. Vernon's explanations of the thought process behind each work that really make it shine. Her comments on the various doodles and sketches in this book offer a unique window into the life of a true aritst--sometimes strange, sometimes disturbing, but always amazing.
If you're a fan of Ursula Vernon or if you're just interested in seeing some art that's intriguing and ludicrous at the same time, I definitely recommend this book.

I love Ursula's artwork, but just as great is her wonderful way of telling stories about her art. The commentary in this book is just as good as the art itself. If you're a fan already, you'll love it. If you've never heard of Ursula, you'll become a fan. Someone I work with picked it up from my desk just today and loved it. Yay Ursula!
